Default XC90 Factory Styling Kit

I am about to press the button on an XC90 T8 and I have seen it has a styling kit - what do you think? Do you know if this could be removed easily, if I don’t like it?

I see it’s no longer for sale so assume you bought it?

I would t bank on changing it. Things like BLIS bumpers will need to be changed and calibrated at Volvo etc and it’s likely it would cost you considerable money to change it.

Thanks - is it not a kit that add to the original body work, rather than taking anything away from it?

I haven’t bought the car yet, I said I would confirm tomorrow after discussing it with the wife aka Boss.

Do you have a working link?

If it is added body work then it may be possible. If it’s an R Design or such like them it may not be possible.

There are quite a few T8s about, if you are unsure would you not consider buying an alternative?

If you take a look at the fitting instructions, there's 189 steps which includes removing the factor body kit.

Step 190 is the instructions for reversing the work which states:

"Reinstall the removed parts in reverse order."

https://accessories.volvocars.com/nl...0(16-)?lang=en

Basically, reverting to the original body kit will involve a lot of labour and will require you to buy the original body kit items.

So there's three choices:

1) Buy the car and keep it as it is
2) Buy a different car
3) Ask how much it'll cost Volvo to revert to the original body kit

Choices 1 and 2 are the only realistic ones as far as I can see.

Looking at the diagrams, it looks like the hands-free boot opening must be done from the side rather than the rear of the car if the rear skid plate is attached.
Or maybe that particular image has another meaning?

From the body-kit blurb:

Quote:
For cars equipped with touch-free power operated tailgate, the sensor is moved from the centre of the rear bumper to the left-hand corner of the rear bumper when installing this styling kit. See Figure 4.

A few years ago i bought a 1 year old XC90 which had the same kit .... my advice - Don't buy it.

The wheel arch liners started to come off. There is adhesive underneath. Under warranty they were re-affixed but was not the same and a year later when we sold the car, they were coming away again. Dirt and debris was getting trapped in there. Definitely a rust spot for the future

I could never get the rear kick gesture to work. You have to be really precise. It's moved off to a corner. Sometimes it wouldn't work at all. went back a couple of times for repair but was never reliable. Dealer said they are a pain on these cars with kits on.

There was a ding in the rear plate. It affected the rear parking sensors somehow and needed to be replaced. Volvo couldn't get their hands on one and quoted 3 month's lead time.

I believe its a £4k factory extra. Who knows who'd pay that, but I can only see problems down the line.
