I recently (November) picked up a very clean 2008 XC70 SE Lux with sunroof. Full service history and everything working as it should, 125,000 miles. Screen is original Volvo. This is my 4th Volvo and 3rd of the V70 series.

Reading this thread and yes, sure enough the screen is not attached at the top! There is no sign of water ingress or moisture, the car is in lovely condition throughout.

Interestingly the maintenance handbook shows regular body and paint checks by Volvo yet they never spotted this.

I have not yet done anything yet, nor contacted VCUK, there are a couple of stone chips in the screen so I'm tempted to simply get it replaced under my insurance. I have seen a couple of comments suggesting that non original screens can be a problem for the rain sensing wipers? Also, is there a screen heating element in these?

thanks

Alistair

2009 model had this issue when I bought it 3 years ago, I took it straight back to the seller and they had the screen rebonded at their cost, if it happens again it will be replaced under my car insurance after accidentally being hit by a flying pheasant.

Add me to the list.
2012 XC60 2.0L diesel R-Design
Beads of water running down the inside of the passenger side of the windscreen.
Push test on passenger side of the windscreen you can see the screen move at the roof joint. 🤬
To contact main dealer or Volvo UK, that is the question. Judging by previous responses it looks like a mixed bag.

I had a windscreen replaced due to stone damage & the Autoglass guy said it was a common fault with Volvos around the 2008-10 models. The bodong wasn't done properly. He cured mine when he fitted the new windscreen. But as with things like the awful Alcantara seat coverings that split so easily, when I complained to Volvo UK that this was the 3rd car with the same problem, they said they had never had a complaint about it so there was no comeback.

Default Windscreen leak

The windscreen of my 2010 (owned from new) XC60 leaked last year. My dealer said that Volvo would cover cost of removing and resealing but would not cover cost of the windscreen breaking in the process. True to form the company employed by my dealer broke the screen and I had to pay for the replacement.
I feel that this cost should have been covered by Volvo as the fault causing the need for the replacement was an acknowledged production fault.
Not very happy with Volvo over this.

My 2011 XC60's windscreen started leaking before Xmas. I booked it into Central London and they have been great, re-sealed it and no costs incurred!

Also reporting a case: 2011 XC60 D5. Bought by me in Nov 2015. Leaked the first time it rained (passenger side top)
Took it straight back and they took it out and re-bonded it under warranty
