Need to get it through an mot before you can transfer plate off it though - which could be a challenge!

Such a shame to let a car get into that state!

I've got an old number plate on my volvo which I wont need soon (Taking the car home to New Zealand). Are these things really worth money?
If I wanted to sell them, whats the procedure? Oh, the plate is black with raised white letters and a white edge, made out of aluminium, and is "OYM82OA" Sorry for the highjack, but this hadnt occured to me until now. |

I think you'd have to approach one of the various agencies that are around (see any classic car magazine). From what I understand, they will give you a 'valuation' and then offer to sell your plate for you on a commission basis. Forgive me if I am being cynical, but I suspect that in reality, they will over value the plate and keep it on their books for several months in the hope that you will accept peanuts for it. I have no first hand experience of this, but have heard this from someone who had a reg' number something like RAF 25. Supposedly very valuable to a serviceman. Anyway, it's probably worth contacting a reg. company to see for yourself. Fine if you are not in a hurry.

Thanks for that. Sounds too much like hard work. I figured if I could get £50 for them, then that would pay for all the messing around I have done to get my rev counter working.
Might just stick them on the garage wall. (when I buy a house with a garage of course). |

ASNEDDON. Do you actualy think that it is the number plates that someone would be buying!!
It is the actual number that you are selling. The number has to be transfered off the car
