4000 Mile update into my 2006 S60 D5 Geartronic

Hello, I reread the thread.
How many miles were on the car when you bought it?
You may want to drain the transmission sump and refill with fresh.
I do not know what fluid the 6 speed takes (I assume "Geartronic" is an auto).
Refresh the brake fluid and suck out the power steering reservoir at the very least. Kira

Wow a year has flown by!

I have to say over the 24,000 miles now completed, this is an amazing car. I have learnt how to live with the turning circle, which means turn at the next roundabout or take a detour around the local neighborhood.

The car is still very comfortable and still enjoy driving it. No major problems over the last 24,000 miles apart from a replacement radiator and 2x parking sensors, along with the usual servicing.

The sound system still is better than most modern cars and does impress friends. The seats have been complimented for the comfort a number of times. The MPG has drastically reduced, as I have been driving a little less efficiently. I now get about 450 miles to a full tank, but at least the cost of a full tank has now reduced to approx £70.

The gearbox and clutch are still working great, although I recently found out that a replacement clutch could cost in the region of £1k, however I am most certain, if it did have a new clutch, it would be good for another 100k miles.

I still haven't got around to changing the front headlamp bulbs for new xenon bulbs, but hopefully I will get that done in the next couple of months.

I did have someone knock the rear bumper a little, which has caused the paint to crack, so think I will get it repaired soon.

Car flew through it's MOT in September. Car still is well powered, yet very comfortable. Overall it is an excellent commuter car. I'd recommend it to everyone!

Think the Automatic is definitely more thirsty than the manual. Plus this is non efficient driving too.

For an auto I think it is great. I think my mileage per annum will be increasing from 24k to 40k from January.

When it gets to 200k miles, I think that's when it will be time to change, but for now it is staying as it is.

I think your right regarding poorer mpg from an automatic and obviously driving style will play it's part.
