1996 B6304 in 1991 960
Hey friends,
I need a replacement engine for my 1991 B6304 960. Could get one from a 1996 960, but while my car runs on Motronic 1.8 the 1996 runs on Motronic 4.4? Can I still make the engine run if I also replace the ECU or is it more difficult? Any help appreciated! |

The wiring is nothing like
it should work but you will have to use the sensors off your engine fitted to the new engine |

The engines with a Motronic 1.8 have two temperature sensors, one of them on the back of the engine. The engines with a Motronic 4.4 have a combined temperature sensor; the sensor on the back of the engine is gone.
Consequently, the temperature gauge in the display is different. |
