Default tyre pressures 215/40/17

Sorry to bring this question up again....

I have just put 215/40/17s on my T5, as the first in a sequence of steps aimed at making it less "comfy" and more "chuckable".

Since this tyre isn't a standard Volvo size, I've no idea what pressures to run. Any ideas out there?

Many thanks.

I have a v70r awd which runs on 215/45/17's. i keep the pressures at 36 psi all round. you could always try phoning a local tyre firm for more advice.

I went for 215/45/17 and have the tyre pressures set at just over 30 psi as I found the ride a bit hard above this.
Try a few different pressures and see what suits you best.

The tyre fitters set them to 36psi, so that's what I'll use until I learn otherwise...

Check with your tyre manufacturers, all the main ones have web sites with contact details. In the past I've found them very helpfull when changing wheel/tyre sizes.
It's also a good idea to keep a weekly tread depth check to see if the wear is even across the tyre. Haynes has good photos of what to look for.
If in doubt err on the higher side as under inflated tyres get hot and can fail catastrophically. With over inflated tyres take care as braking and handling are impaired.
I also use 36 all round on 215 45 17's

Based on my motor (2002), normal driving for 225/45/17 is 31psi front 30 rear or 36 front+rear for four up with luggage. There is another figure of 38 front/rear but never paid any attention to that as I think its for autobahn rating with friends !! I only ever had 38fr/rr when taking concrete to the skip.
As I only have myself and/or wife + dog in boot I kept P6000's at just above (32fr & 31rr). They managed 12k miles before I thought 3mm was too low. Hope this helps.
