In many respect the GLE and GLT were equal specs - just the GLT was designed as a more sporty model - hence differences in suspension. They wre aimed at slightly different customers.

On the 265 there was no GLT spec made and the top of the range was the GLE.

and can i add from my very limited knowledge of the 200 series, the Glt was the top of the range BUT, only for the 240s, with the 260s the gle is the flagship model its all very complicated especially when you have the 240s woth spec levels Gle and glt. the gle is well specced i.e leather, electric windows and mirrors and 2.3 engine, then the glt was essentially the "sports" one which again had the electric stuff, leather the aforementioned 5 spoke virgo alloys but with a 2.3 injection engine and stiffened/lowered suspension to make it faster and handle better. hope this helps, if not check internet for electronic copies of 200 series brochures for more info nick. edit: since typing this i have just noticed ive been beaten to it oh well

Hi Seb.
Great car - its rare - keep it going! The GLT was the 'sports' version, the GLE the 'executive' one. Neither were superior to the other they were just different - ie softer suspension on the GLE etc. All the advice and guidance that you need is here on the forum - sometimes described as the 'ultimate workshop manual'! |

The 240 GLE was the luxury version and the 240 GLT was the sporty version. Designed to appeal to different customers.
