Default Washer fluid bottle tube/breather?

Hi,

MY 2016 xc60. Washer fluid bottle has some sort of tube inside, where you add the washer fluid. If you open the tap, you see there is this tube within that goes from the hole just under the tap and goes to dissapear somewhere deep in the washer fluid tank.

Sorry for the bad description

Anyhow, I had to suck out some of the summer washer fluid so that I could put in the winter fluid, and while pushing my own tube in there to reach the fluid & suck it out, I managed to push the said little tube (from the beginning of this post) down. Of course it is not reachable, and to remove the washer fluid tank I would have remove at least the bumper, which I have no intention of doing.

So, this tube that I pushed down, what is it for and is it OK to go on without it? I think that's only used to let the air out easier from the washer bottle when adding new fluid, to "burp" it if you will. But am not sure.
Also, since that tube is no womewhere deep in the washer tank, is that a problem? Can it do any harm there?

TIA

I think it will be okay and not do any harm....

The tube that you fill is a extension tube and not and integral part of the washer bottle. It may be that you can remove it without removing the bumper or wheel arch liner - I'm not sure but on some models there is a single bolt holding it to the inner wing and it's possible to remove and refit it without disturbing the main reservoir...
