Does this sound like an ETM problem(new owner so clueless) ?
Hi guys,
Bought my 2007 2.0t S60 two weeks ago and while it ran fine for the first 3 days(albeit hard to start) the day I left it in for tb kit front branks and a fluid+filter change so it was tip top it stalled in mechanics yard and refused to start. Two days later get car back runs fine until the next day where again it refuses to start along with other symptoms I will list below. Hunting on idle(more apparent when air con first switched on) Spluttering noise from exhaust every few seconds. Almost impossible to start. Very poor mpg went from 29mpg to 17mpg Car is very liable to stall at low speeds(especially on turns) and is a slight judder at low rpm in traffic especially in 1st. Hesitation across all the gears on full or even half throttle. Two messages have come up on dash. "Reduced engine performance" randomly came on a few days ago. Engine system service required" came on with eml once I figured out how to force the car to start (clutch in car in 1st feather throttle a bit) Cars been back and Maf cleaned and sensor replaced but made no odds. I'm at my wits end as I only wanted a comfy reliable daily for smallish money so I can get a vintage car after Xmas and a steel shed for it. Car itself is exactly what I was after but the unreliability factor is ruining my plans(the whole reason I sold my last car I was happy with but wanted a cheapish comfortable daily and a vintage for weekends) Also I am after a Volvo specific code reader for around 100-150 quid so I can figure out this and future problems without changing parts on a "guess" etc. Have a laptop but it only has vista OS if that makes any odds. Anyway sorry for the massive post. Jim |

Could be ETM but petrols aren't my strong point.
You mention new filter. Does that include a new fuel filter? Also, how much fuel is in it? Some can be temperamental with less than a quarter of a tank.

Assuming your filters are genuine Volvo, the ETM is looking the most likely then.
You may get lucky by just cleaning it and I believe there are good how-to guides on here.
