Someone was able to burn and get to the GPS update on your SAT.

I have tried with a Intenso DVD +R DL DVD, ImgBurn at 4X with no erros on record, but then when inserted in the DVD, still i get that the system can't read the DVD.

Any trick i am missing??
Should i use a diferent brand of the DVD to "backup" ??
does it has anything to do with cleaning?
I insert the original DVD and it reads properly, without lag or errors.

Can someone give me any help on what am i missing?
The first time I tried the disc I burnt it didn't work. I left it in the drive and went for something to eat. The next morning I got in the car, completely forgot about the disc in the drive until the SatNav popped up out of the dash and was working perfectly. I didn't do anything special, just left it in the drive over night ...

With the back up disk I have it was something like your experiance shady, in that I had to put it in and leave it for a bit before it worked.

Edit
These were the instructions I got.
Please load the DVD with the engine running and leave for 5 minutes, then turn engine off for 1 minute then back on again and it will load up fine.

Newbie, with recently aquired 2003 xc90 without sat nav disc, so have no idea if unit works or if software has ever been updated. Discs to "test" the system would be most welcome.

Any ideas how I tell what system I have, it's a facelift model mid 2006 model. It has a black box under the passenger seat, this has no disc in it.

If your system works without a disc in, it means that it has never been updated: once it has been updated, disc 1 of the set needs to be left in for it to work.

I didn't realise how easy the process was .... It's great that the update can pause/restart when u drive the car to work and then leave it.

I have updated twice now ..... On 2014 maps in mine.

Happy to help.....PM if more info needed if like me you are doing it on a budget!

I've only had my MY2014 XC90 a couple of weeks but registered for the updates immediately. When I get them I've no problem copying disks for members on here. We used to do the same over on the BMW forums.

Hi defiantly no disc in it and the system shows a 2006 map, so it's on the original version. Any idea which system I have or which type of discs I need.

If it will work with no disc then it's the DVD system which is the newer one.

Mine is the newer DVD/HDD system and needs the disc in to work.
