Talking It's FIXED! and 940's on classic insurance?

Hi all,
as you may know i had been suffering with loss of power and general poor running........my maf sensor was blocked up with the foam lining that's been disintegrating inside my airbox!! so scraped the remainder off and washed out my maf sensor with contact cleaner, disconnected the battery to reset the ecu and hey presto she runs like a dream!

All i have to do now is get all the ignition bits together as they are past their best and that should be it fingers crossed!

Also to round things off, can i insure my 940 on classic insurance?

Thanks one and all for your advice!

just been out to get a takeaway (yes i have insurance just switched it from the escort back to the volvo) and it's smooth as silk even my idle is much improved!! the foam lining in my airbox that had blocked up my maf sensor was basically making my car run like i'd left the choke out.

I`m with Towergate, they will consider anything >15 years old and also offer an agreed value certificate. Restriction on mileage may be a problem if you do more than 5kmiles pa.

i will give them a try thanks, are they any good with this being a second car? i did accumulate 2yrs no claims on a second car policy but that was sometime ago now and i have lost the proof so i just assume 0 no claims, i think this will be a problem! and i do less the 5k pa.

i'm with swiftcover, i'd like to keep the escort on this policy and put the 940 on a classic policy.

Yes, my cover is for my `87 motorhome, the ncb is based on your main policy, cost for me is £100pa. Remember it is limited mileage.

limited mileage is fine i don't do alot these days, i plan to use my escort as the regular car and the volvo when i need it, so classic insurance would be perfect.

Footman James operate a Classic policy which includes: comprehensive insurance, £100 excess, £50 wincscreen excess, unlimited mileage. Proviso is that you have to join the Volvo Enthusiasts' Club. My '93 940, parked on-road in London, came to £366, which was better than Churchill at £770...

Footman James quoted for 960 estate 1995 classic insurance £243 with £100 excess and must be locked in a garage when not in use between 10pm and 6am but if I joined the Volvo Enthusiasts club I would automatically have a £50 excess and no stipulation on garaging over night and £69 discount making a total of £174. BUT ... Go to PBIS ..01376 573033 and be surprised by what their quote is. In a nice way!!.

I just renewed the insurance for my daily Jeep Grand Cherokee which the price had gone up from £300 to £375 (grumble grumble ) rang around and could beat my renewal.

whilst on the phone I asked Adrian Flux my brokers to quote me for a 97 940 turbo that i recentley saved from the crushers (had just that day put it through mot and it sailed through).
I had 2 years NCB to use towards the 940 from a previous 2nd car policy. So thought i'd make some use of the car and enjoy it.

They came back with a classic policy, which didnt make any use of the 2yrs NCB.

The policy had a 3000 mile limit and was £464.

Needless to say i declined, i'm 31, have clean licence, no claims whatsover

and it now appears a nice 97 940 that can just sit on the drive unused.

I think i'm going to look into getting a trade insurance policy as if my 740 turbo project is going to cost anything like that i may as well have the ability to use other cars as well insuring it.
