Default Rebuilding amazon doors

Hi all,

Has anyone had a go at rebuilding amazon doors but deleting the u shaped channel that runs around the outside of the door? Just curious as there maybe a more modern, potential better way of adhering a closure rubber to the door, rather than using the channel, which in my case is hanging on by luck rather than weld.

It seems the channel is a separate piece that is tacked on afterwards, in the same way as the window closure channel that sits on top of the door (not sure if it the right terms but it creates a seal when the window is wound up and down and is just pinned through the door). If there isn’t an alternative finding that size of channel could be a mission!

All the best.
