There is a good deal of level load area in the rear but what lets it down for me is the fixed headrest on the passenger seat. I used to be able to remove the headrest on my older car and fit lengths of 2.4 timber with ease but I can fit a 6x3 board if I put the seats as far forward as possible and the payload of my xc is very good and can easily cope with plenty of building materials in fact it will take more of a payload than my old works van and it gives a good impression when parking outside clients property. All told though my Scenic had a better load area and I could remove my rear seats if needed.

The headrest goes down into the passenger footwell giving you the full length of the car - same as in v70

Looks nice enough to sleep in. I think I'll have to order one of these before mine arrives though:

It is worth every penny (though you do need a lot of them to buy it ) I have had one since new and it has proved invaluable - especially with dogs!

Yes, I have dogs too. Its the protection of the luggage space sides and the back of the seats that I'm looking for. It looks like it fits quite securely too.
Do you leave it fitted full time?
I was even considering the reversible textile mat to fit over the top!

A very expensive solution and probably overkill on my part.

I leave it fitted to the back of the seats and fold up the floor and sides part when not in use, that way I can see the nice clean floor.

It does protect the sides effectively
