Default Driver not prosecuted after brutal hit and run

I'm a cyclist first and foremost and then an XC60 owner but this really struck a chord with me.

This is not an us vs. them rant. We can all live together safely as long as we look out for one another.

Watch the video.

Cycling on roads in my 'Government' would be a crime, punishable by a fine, 24 hours on the stocks and the placing of offenders bike 'over' a lamp-post thru the frame....

I am considerate though, i always carry a club in case i run one over, i hate seeing things suffer..

I'm joking.. i wouldn't impose a fine, that would be harsh.

This is an old post, its been done.

Yes I cycle too, and I still maintain disgraceful as this incident is there is more to this event. We are only seeing what the cyclist has chosen to post.

I was a really keen cyclist back in the late 50 up until the late 80, however I would not go out on a bike nowadays, the volume of traffic is such that it has become dangerous. I have had a ride local here on the back lanes, but would not go any further .

Bikes were invented and served a useful purpose, then we invented something altogether more civilised to convey ourselves, a harmonious ratio of modes will never exist again so anybody bloody minded enough to think that the two can share roads without incident is en-route to potentially ruining their families lives, by being removed from it!

Take your bikes to a track if thats your bag.

Not exactly an analogy but could you imagine the ridiculous notion of jets sharing the same altitude flightpaths as bi-planes?

Cycles, pedestrians and equestrians use Highways by right.

Those using motor vehicles use the highways only by licence.

And they are paid for from general taxation before you hit the road tax angle.

Having been knocked off by a bus and almost pushed into the path of a car by another, I am going to keep off roads for my cycling. If and when I do some I am going on trails for bikes only. Shame, but there are too many idiots on the road to risk it.

Even if an accident happens with people around, witnesses disappear like cockroaches when the lights come on.

It's a sad place, but how are we going to fix it?

I recently got ploughed into (in my car) by someone doing double the speed limit (conservative estimate) and the Police were not interested (so far, but I am still trying).

4candles dont be a tit.
get yourself into the big wide world.
those comments arent funny, I hope you think they were some kind of joke and you didnt really mean them.

cycles were on the road long before cars were invented, they are vehicles and have both moral and legal right to be there. Cycles are legally entitled to their wobble.

Theres alot of discussion about that incident on ctc forum. The video of the driver ramming the cyclist is crystal clear. Driver should be in jail.

I mean every word, mildly tongue in cheek but only a tit would venture out onto modern roads in a bike...
and talking of tits, how come you don't know how to get your doors open as posted on the V70 forum, doesn't everyone know about the connections under Volvo bonnets?

This is a forum where view are expressed, i don't mind someone telling me they don't agree with my views but do be careful how you address me, ok.

Also, for the OP, this ought to have been posted in the lounge section of the forum, for your future reference anyway.

Nb. Forgot to say that the vid was sickening.

Try cycling, walking or riding a horse on a motorway and see if said right exists.

You could also try riding a horse or a bike drunk but when caught then like a driver get points on your license, and banned from using the roads if your license if removed; that ban has been previously extended to both horses and cycles.

We all share the roads but have a duty to responsibility.

There are times and places to ride horses, bikes and drive cars but more often that not in todays cramped society the space to do all three or even two at once just is not there making it dangerous for all parties.
