The one way valve in the upper boot lid blocks up, with white deposits and I have to clean it. I flush more water through the pipe and it comes out like Lux flakes. Tried different fluids but it’s still the same. My wiper feeds blocked up last summer and I removed them and used a compressor to blow them out. I get white deposits all over the bonnet from the headlight washers. I’ve reported this numerous times but there doesn’t seem to be an answer. I still think it’s something to do with the pipes and their internal coating.
That's weird , are you sure they are actually using volvo wash fluid ? Its not something i've seen on any volvo using volvo fluid . Plenty of problems with the cheap salt based fluid though , including bacteria growth . The white deposits need analysing to find out exactly what it is ...

I have a similar problem. White powder coming out of the washer jets since new. Now the rear wash is completely blocked but can still hear the pump working.

Where do I find the none return valve that needs cleaning?

Thanks

Open the boot and at the top of the rear screen there is a panel about 2 feet long. Gently prise this off , it’s held by a few clips but fairly easy to get off.
You will, see the washer pipe feeding to the right hand side where the washer jet is. The main pipe goes into a connector, disconnect this. You can then with your fingers easily push the washer jet off the car which leaves you with the jet and pipe and 2 connectors. Pull this lot apart and you will find that one of them is a one way valve and that is one that blocks. There is a small silver ball bearing in it. I soaked it in hot water and with a pin cleaned it out. Whilst you have this lot off put a bowl on the parcel and pull the main pipe off it’s clips and put it into the bowl. Operate the rear washer until the water becomes clear. Put it back together and hopefully all will be ok. I can do it in my sleep now , it’s not difficult to do

ALWAYS use the proper volvo fluid , it protects expensive jets, valves and pumps .. It Leaves no deposits whatsoever as it is spirit based
( like methelated spirit)
Does anyone know the difference between Volvo washer fluid part number 31662959 and part number 31301250?
Thanks

It’s worth noting that Volvo do a few care kit products which include screen wash. These are branded superguard products and the screen wash is not the same as the stuff available via the parts department. The stuff in the 1 litre cans is what you want. I use 100ml to a litre in summer and 200ml in winter. Never frozen up, no deposit's on the heated jets.

Next time you do it, Whiterdesign, you could drop a few flakes in white vinegar ca. 25%. If it starts to fizz and dissolve chances are it's timescale.

Limescale. Which is insoluble in alcohol. I suspect the Volvo screen wash is very concentrated alcohol and when added to water it precipitates any salts and or limescale that were dissolved in the water.
If you want to know what’s in your water your local water board will supply you with a full list of the dissolved salts and minerals and concentrations.
