Alarm problem
Hi everyone, my 57 plate D5 SE has developed an alarm fault. Alarm triggered and check car message came up. I’ve put a new battery on the car and it’s just had a brand new alarm siren module fitted at Volvo. Everything was fine for a few days but now the alarm keeps going off again. If I use the reduced guard button then arm the alarm it all works ok and no problem. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Interestingly the check car message hasn’t appeared after the alarm has been going off? Checked all doors and window, no bugs or spiders in the car. Very frustrating and not sure if you can reset everything alarm wise?

Stray electrical signals can set it off.
My Son's RC car controller can set off my car alarm - he was banned from playing with his toy on the driveway as a result

Have you got VIDA to check the last alarm trigger cause?
If the reduced guard button is effective at preventing the alarm triggering, suspect the internal sensors. I have this issue with my car - the mass movement sensor (located under the plastic panel in the centre of the headlining) is faulting, there are stored codes for it and every time the alarm has activated, it's been triggered by that sensor. For the time being I'm leaving mine and have got in the habit of pressing the reduced guard button every time I leave the car.

In our old one heavy rain would set off the front mass movement sensor. It was only using VIDA that I was able to pin point it to that one. Replaced it with a secondhand one and the problem went away.
Use VIDA to help locate which sensor is triggered and from there you can start to work out what’s causing it. |
