I know there are good reasons for breaking, but what a shame to see her go. Seeing pictures of the old girl maybe makes it a bit more poignant and the phrase "weighed in" could bring a tear to the eye!

Hi,
Does this have the sound proofing on the inside of the bonnet? If so how much for it with the clips e.t.c.?

So the postcode for this mini meet is????
I take one sugar with my tea and a cooked breakfast would go down well IMHO. Just kidding chesh but it has the potential for one.How many could we get on your drive and parked just outside? Regards Brian. Will david attenborough be filming this?I saw a programme showing a hippo being devoured bit by bit until nothing was left. All said in the best possible taste. Regards Brian. |

Hello,
Am interested in the radio mounting/surround (next to clock) a headlamp wiper blade and the front screen washer motor, all plus postage, if not too much hassle. Cheers. |

Hi Guys a little update, just stopped at my parents on my way to work and have loaded up the 240 to bring back to mine ready for the weekends shenagins.
Yes its a shame to break the car, but its rear axle and gearbox are being used to help update a 1980 240 Turbo that we built a while back. And the Wiring loom along with a B230FT i got from breaking a 940 earlier in the year will be going towards making another early 240 Turbo once an early shell has been aquirred. Brian, there will probably be around 10-12 Volvos in my street at the weekend as its Tbricks Xmas Meet & Xmas Meal, my neighbours love it!!! If i can set up my camera somewhere maybe i'll do another timelapse of the Hippo being stripped for bits. I've done timelapse before at another Turbobricks meet.
Going back to bits. The Steel wheels are available as the buyer has found a set local to him. The front tyres are shot, but the rears are falkens with quite a bit of life in them. All other bits are available that people have mentioned. I would give priority to anyone that did visit to collect bits as it saves the hassle of packaging and postage. I'm roughly 2 miles from Wellingborough or about 15miles from J14 of M1, if people are interested in coming to get bits then send me a PM. I will reply in depth to peoples PM's and Posts here later tonight, or on wednesday when i have a day off. Last edited by Chesh740R; Dec 6th, 2011 at 12:29. |

Hi
Glad my old car is being used for the projects that chesh mentions and to keep other cars on the road. I have a 740 and a minibus to keep on the road so couldn't justify keeping it and you can see from the paintwork in the photos it would never have found a buyer who would use or restore it. Look forward to that timelapse if you do it. I paid £100 for it in 2006 and it never let me down once. |

Thanks for the video I really enjoyed watching it.Looks like quite a few hands were available at certain times. It must be great having so many like minded folks around aiming to achieve a common goal. And maybe some less experienced people can learn from the more learned ones.
I won't be gatecrashing this party as I have lots of other commitments apparently(shopping for xmas). Me and three mates did a similare thing once with two allegro estates. His had a dodgy 1100 engine(smoker) and we got a rotten donar which was a 1300.Both sat next to each other and both engines removed and swapped in half a day.Only problem was swapping the exhausts over as the bore was different. We were half drunk by midnite but kept going until saturday morning it was running sweet(for an allegro). This was in the seventies and we were relatively young but what a great time we had.We even sold the rotten one complete with smokey 1100 engine for a few quid as it had ten months ticket left on it. Many a friday nite rebuilding old triumphs motorcycles and jap mopeds in someones shed.Lots of beer and chinese food,Heavy metal blasting in the background into the early hours Lol. The good old days.Just enough tools between us when combined together. Then the odd road trip down the coast friday nite on our motorbikes.Any old coast would do. Regards Brian. |
