XC 60 Parking Brake
I collect my new XC60 in a couple of weeks and cant wait. I have a quick question for the guys who already have theirs. On the manual cars, does the parking brake dissengage automatically. I have been reading the owner manual and its not all that clear. Cheers, Rab

Sorry, have re-read my post and its not that clear, what I meant to ask is does the parking brake dis-engage automatically when pulling away, or do you need to pull the switch?

It should self release as soon as you touch accelerator pedal as long as you have your seat belt on .

I am not totally sure as I have the auto box, but when test driving the XC60 I asked the dealer about this as I was considering the manual at the time.
I am fairly sure it will automatically disengage when you increse the revs sufficient to override it, making it the same as on the auto. |

I had a manual for a weekend test drive and the electronic handbrake does disengage when you depress the accelerator. It's a pity there is no hold assist option where the brake automatically engages when you come to a complete stop, as audi, and some other manufacturers provide.
