Bit silly to spend £300 on a dash cam that has no reviews and unknown video quality. Not a single youtube video showing what it can do! Looking at the specs, the DC4 has 2k front and 1080p rear cams, although the front drops to 1080p when the rear one is attached.😕

Pretty sure my Viofo A129 Plus Duo can do 2k@30fps front whilst the rear 1080p cam is connected, has Sony Starvis sensors, GPS, Wifi, parking mode, all that stuff. Nearly half the price too.

Totally agree that the DC4 may not be the best available, but I am very wary of having a dashcam hard wired into a car still under warranty. Also an expensive dealer fit cam is still better than none at all IMO.

Ideally I would have the same Nextbase cam I fitted myself in my previous V70.

Just been quoted £530 for front and rear camera re DC-4. The technical spec provided to me states recording for both at 1080P. Looking for hardwired as can't stand cables on display.
The spec states external GPS antenna, is this built into camera, as external?
Sounds like i should sit and wait. An independent fitter recommended Nordval DC102-4k but reluctant to go independent, as i have heard you should be cautious with electrical interference if you have heated screen and steering wheel.
That's without App issues.

I've recently had a Nextbase 422 (front and rear) fitted to myXC40 B4 Ultimate by a local independent. This is my 3rd Volvo and 4th car to be fitted with a Dashcam, all have been positioned to the left of the screen sensors and hard wired into the car. Both my 2nd V90 and present XC40 have/had heated screens and steering wheels. In NO instance have any of the sensor dependant systems been affected in any way. This hoary old subject has been around for at least the last 7 years and I have yet to see a single valid report of problems. During that time I've been rear ended twice and on both occasions footage was extremely helpful in my claims. At no time has any dealer commented or recommended removal. Sometimes they tape over the lens.

Oh, the Nextbase 422 cost about £325, fitted on drive.
