July 2010 Scottish Section Meeting
Well it is time again to announce another meeting of the Scottish section. This time, unlike the last 2, it will be a return to a previous event, as it was all arranged before I took over, but was more than happy to include it in our diary.
The meet will be held on Sunday 1st August 2010 at The Glenisla Hotel, Kirkton of Glenisla, near Blairgowrie, PH11 8PH at 1200hrs, (there is a road run for the older cars that will leave the hotel at 1030hrs). Please note that there is only one Glenisla Hotel so nobody should end up at the wrong location this time This is an event that is hosted by the Glenisla Classic Vehicle Club, and is their own annual BBQ and Show. We were kindly invited along by a fellow VOCer and Chairman of the Glenisla Club, George Smith who is the proud owner of a 164 that will be on show. I did ask to see if we could include all our Volvos in the "show field", but there is a strict age criteria, and judging from what cars were there last year, it looked to be 1980 and older. So if you would like to include your older car in the show, then it is down to the discretion of the "man on the gate", other wise we'll need to park in the car park to the right of the field. This was a great show last year with a number of different cars, jeeps, trucks, tractors and motorbikes. Hopefully this year there will be even more. There will also be a BBQ with a free burger for everyone (if that isn't a reason to go, then I don't know what is), a bric-a-brac & bottle stall, and a raffle. It would be nice for all of us to put our hand in our pockets to buy at least one raffle ticket each! If that isn't enough to tempt you, then there will be the usual Volvo banter from the regulars.......and maybe a quick half in the Hotel (who's getting the first round in? Bagsy not me ) Once again I'm looking forward to chatting to all the regulars, and seeing if we can get some new faces along too. Thanks in advance, Duncan. For the person that said that "surely this must be the August meet as it's in August", (you know who you are) this meet is taking place on July 32nd 2010. Hope that keeps you happy

Glen Isla
Hope to be with you at this one Dunc. I hope to bring my new! 240GLT with me. It should be out of the coachworks by then. Are you taking note Gary? I think it will be too new for the line-up but I might speak to that man at the gate.
We attended at Glen Isla last year and it was a most enjoyable, relaxing day - and a nice pint at the Hotel also. Looking forward to it. Dibble |

I was at Glen Isla for their tenth anniversary show. It was a good sunny day out and the meet was good. We all got a very good welcome and the burger was enjoyable. The bottom area of the show field was a bit damp - but it was just next to the hotel. Sadly being the sole attendee in the car I was not able to partake of the brew available - maybe this time. Great range of machines on display.

Ageist!
They won't allow our cars on the grounds that they're too young??!!! Get Bruce Forsyth and Kirsty Young on the case!!!
Going to try and make it though depending on how things go, the yellow banana may not be with me any longer, but another Volvo will.....!! All the best |

Not Going to Make It Now...
As above, I am on airport run duties apparently, for a flight checkin of 2.00pm... That's a bit of a bugger but oh well. Next time!
All the best for the day Grant |
