Default 2004/04 XC90 D5 SE AWD Semi Auto, 102k FSH, Tax&MOT & More

2004/04 Volvo XC90 2.4 D5 SE AWD Semi-Auto in metallic silver with full heated black leather.

Some of the ad has been copied from my ebay listing so appologies for that, just much quicker.

This is our own family car and is only being offered for sale due to the imminent arrival of a new company car. THE PRIVATE PLATE IS ALSO INCLUDED IN THE SALE - valued around £350-400

This is the 163bhp model which has no swirl flaps or dreaded DPF fitted, with a genuine and low mileage for its year and for this type of vehicle.

It has the usual fully loaded SE spec which includes
•Heated Black Leather with drivers electric memory
•Factory privacy glass
•Factory Fitted Volvo detachable towbar
•Full electrics - windows, mirror etc
•Traction control
•Headlamp Washers
•Cruise Control
•Dual Zone Climate Control
•Rear seat entertainment (multiple radio control points)
•Rear Park Assist
•ABS, PAS, Full suite of Airbags
•Alloy Wheels
•Split tailgate
•ISOFIX child seat anchor points

The car has covered just under 102k with a fully stamped service book, including a cambelt change at 74k which was the all important KIT not just the belt. It has tax until the end of December 2014 and is MOT'd until the 16th January 2015. The last service was completed at only 98k with stamp and receipt. The car has both original flip keys, full book pack and a huge pile of receipts, including the wheel nut locking key code and radio code paperwork, and even the dealer supplied towbar instructions. I have all required paperwork in my own name and a clean HPI report from when I bought the car (with the exception of the number plate change)

It has the Geartronic semi auto gearbox which works without fault, all gearchanges are smooth and as they should be and the manual function works perfectly up and down the box.

The bodywork is very straight which is unusual for a 2004 model XC90 and the interior is in excellent condition for its age, only marks to note really are due to general wear and tear nothing major at all - personally prior to buying this one I walked away from more than a dozen others due to the condition these cars are usually found to be in at this age.

Tyres are very good, fronts have some wear to the edges which is a usual XC90 trait but plenty of tread in the centres, these were replaced when I bought the car (at around 92k) I changed the full set, and the rears are virtually like new.

There are a couple of faults with the car, hence the low price so please read the following carefully.

The only real issue is that the car from time to time displays the "Engine service required" message under quick acceleration which reduces the power and puts the car into limp home mode. This car easily be reset by turning the car off and then on again. During the past few months I've replaced a lot of parts at a big expense to try and fix the problem, working with the advice from a local and highly respected Volvo independent specialist and the fault has now been diagnosed as the turbo. This needs an overhaul NOT REPLACEMENT. He has quoted me around £400 for a full turbo overhaul but due to the imminent arrival of a new company car and a waiting time to get the car booked in, I don't have the time to get the repair done, hence the low price and the need to sell quickly.

When the car doesn't exhibit the fault, it drives absolutely perfectly and pulls like a train. It is definately an intermittent fault, I've been running the car with some turbo vane cleaner additive recently on recommendation from the Volvo specialist and had around 1000 miles of trouble free driving, however within the last couple of days after some short runs and lower than preferred quality supermarket diesel the light has re-appeared on a couple of occasions when accelerating onto the motorway.

I have replaced the following parts already so these will not need replacing for at least another 100k and are mostly expensive replacements:-
•Vacuum Pump
•Turbo Governor Valve
•Engine Mount Control Valve
•All Engine Mount and Vacuum Pipework
•Front Engine Mount
•Fuel Filter (OE)
•EGR Valve Cleaned
•EGR Mixer Plenum and hoses cleaned
•Inlet manifold cover plate cleaned and re-sealed
•Top Engine Mount
•Engine Torque Rod Bushes

There are two more smaller faults, the first being that the CD changer has never worked while I've had the car, but we've always used the IPod FM modulator to listen to the music via the radio, and the Alarm siren batteries have failed, causing the "alarm system service required" message to be displayed on turning the ignition on - I have ordered a new siren, and if it arrives I will have it fitted before the end of the auction or I will supply with the car to the new owner.

Price is £5250 ovno - I've seen others in this condition for £6000+ so I've left enough savings in there to more than cover the cost of the turbo overhaul.

Any interest, please PM me or my number is 07757705370, please feel free to text or call or leave a voicemail and I'll reply as quickly as possible.

I will post some pictures very soon.

Weekly bump,

Update - I've used the car this week and took the kids to the coast, and all over the place. I've been running the car on super diesel and it has ran perfect for nearly 500 miles without fault.
