Default Volvo 960 (B6304 engine) Downpipe from Manifold

Hi,

Here for sale I have a downpipe designed to fit onto the Volvo B6304 manifold, found on some Volvo 960 cars.

This piece was designed to flow better than the original which is quite restrictive.
A good upgrade for any b6304 engine.

It may require further modification to fit onto your current exhaust but should bolt straight up to the standard manifold.

Im after £50 collected.

Can probably post if required, will have to find out a price for postage.

I'm interested. Is it for Mark 1 or Mark 2? Mine's Mark 2

Hi,
What are the specs? As in how wide is the diameter?

It came off a 1992 Volvo 960.
So it should fit cars with a 2.9 litre b6304 (years 1991 to 1994?)

It measures as 2 1/2" to exhaust with 1 /3/4" down pipes.

Wikipedia says the engine stayed the same to 1998 - but it seems confused whether it was 204 bhp for all that time or strangled to 180 bhp by emission control.

I'd suspect (but I am not sure) that in the later applications the cat was integral with the downpipe so these downpipes would need to be mated to a complex cat.

Can anyone enlighten us better?

For a later car yes.

This was from a 1992 car so pre cat.

The cat on a later model would attach onto the exhaust exit of this down pipe on an aftermarket exhaust.

Well, I'm still interested but it's in Southport and I'm in Kent. Open to suggestions on that!

I am pretty sure that the cat on a 1996- 960 isn't integral to the downpipe

From 1991-1994, the 960s arpund the world can be found either using the B6304F or B6304G. B6304G has no cat, nor it has oxygen sensors, both engines produce 204hp and 267 N.m of torque

1995 came and for the US market only, the B6304 was retuned to deliver 181hp to meet emissions, and answer to the complaints that the engine was gutless at low rpms, these engines were tuned to give low to mid range torque in exchange for top end power. This change enabled the B6304FS2 (Engine code 96) to propel the car from 0-60 in 8.4 seconds

1997 came, with the S90, the B6304FS2 came to europe, becaming available with the manual M90 box.

So if you want to know, if your engine is 204hp or 181 hp, pop open your hood, look at your vin. If engine code is 95, then 204 hp, 96 means 181 hp

Hope this helps,
Skavac

Default Delivery?

So Goose, have you any ideas how to get it to me in Kent? I'm likely to be in Birmingham for a gearbox in late October if that gives you any ideas.

The twin down pipe on the `96 model goes direct into the cat. with it`s twin pipes and only a flange on the earlier models.

An aftermarket cat. on the later model comes with the downpipes attached or welded in it. The aftermarket cat. itself is shorter than original but makes up in length by the longer pipe exiting the cat. so all connects up to the rear section in front of the multilink suspension, connections are by clamps and not flanges.
