My 740 GLT For sale
I am sadly having to part with my lovely 740 GLT 16v. It has recently flown through an Mot test and is due the next test April 24th 2012.
Tax runs out at the end of May, I would be wiling to tax at buyers'expense. In Jan this year it had new discs, pads and flexis on the front, front wheel bearings re-packed and the plugs and oil and filter(OE) are on 3600 miles. Auto transmission that's in excellent condition and the car has been a very reliable daily runner for the last year. It has a black leather interior fitted from my previous GLE and a standard Volvo Radio/Cassette (original jobbie). The interior is all very clean and tidy and in good condition. It has a solid exhaust system which should last at least another 12 months before anything needs replacing. All electrics work perfectly (except heated seats - need wiring in as different plugs) and the rear tyres are nearly new 205-65-15's, which give her a nice lift and purposeful look. I am open to offers on this beauty as I don't know what she is realistically worth in the current economic climate - I hope to be attaching photos to this ad once the B/Hols are over. Regards all |

Saloon or estate?
That's the key issue...
Oh, and when were the cam belts last done and was the balance shaft belt removed and is she the 3:31 rear end (probably not on an auto) And was she fitted with the rare optional LSD? Oh, and if estate should have nivos - when were they last changed? |

740 GLT 16v Saloon For Sale
Ok..my omission - it's a saloon so no nivos to worry about, it has the beam axle so no indy.suspension either.
I have no idea what axle it has - what I would say is that it surprised my as to how good it was in the snow last winter. This car really does drive lovely and I am loathe to sell it, the wife has now a job near home so it will not be needed any more. |

I have no solid record of when the cambelt/balancer belts were done other than a verbal 'they were done six months ago' when I bought the car in late May 2010.
I took the covers off not long after to inspect the belts and they did indeed look very fresh at that time. It has performed economical service for me in the time I have owned it - as with all cars of this age, I suggest seeing before buying if you are pedantic in your tastes! Regards |

Apologies for the omission
The mileage of the car is just under 120k, although it shows 187k at the moment due to an instrument cluster change from my now broken up GLE.
Car is on a 'G' plate and was registered in May 1990. It has a 940 front end.. (for the purists lol!) Hving re-filled with Shell fuel - it seems that she's now happy again and has stopped cutting out. Took her for a nice run up the Swansea valley last night and she was pulling like a train and never once cut out. Hooray for the B234F IMO one of if not the best motor Volvo ever made. |

Looking at teh pictures...
Are those 15 inch Rigel wheels? I didn't think they fitted over ABS, and she should have ABS - has she?
What tyre size? Can we have a picture of the bit on the edge of the driver's seat that always gets worn to a hole by the seatbelt, please? Yes, I'm interested... |

Yes you are right the car does have ABS and it works well..just tried it on the grass prior to taking the photos. I cleaned the whole brake system up in Jan as the ABS light had been on since I bought her - it seems a clean of the sensor rings and new discs and pads did the job. I'm going up to Mid-Wales in her tonight so will have pictures of the drivers seat sometime tomorrow. I can assure you though that there is little wear on it and certainly not even come close to a hole! The alloys are off of my previous GLE - I think they are called 'Rigas'?? Sizes are: Rear-205-65-15(nearly new) Fronts: 195-65-15(MOT advisory due to low tread - 2mm) Note: if anyone prefers, car can be sold with steelies all round with excellent tyres but on 195-60-15 tyres which makes her sit considerably lower. I prefer the higher ride height of the 205's. |

The silence is deafening lol...No offers on this then lads..??
I had hoped it would go to a cherished home - 700's in this condition are few and far between. Any offers before it goes on the dreaded e-bay? |
