Default Knocking noise when accelerating

Fear not, me hearties, not a problem, but a SOLUTION!
Here goes... I had a knocking noise on the V40 which sounded like an engine mount/wheel bearing noise when accelerating reasonably hard in 1st & 2nd gear. Anyway, after my local Volvo specialist had a look, ( Paul A Wenlock, in Telford. 01952 691291. Excellent!) the problem was pinpointed as the tie-bar thingy that connects to the front lower suspension arms. Apparently, they get knocked about on speed bumps etc, so he whipped out the 15mm pins that hold it in place, straightened it with some gentle persuasion from a hammer, and hey presto! problem solved.
It's a flat bar, slightly rounded, and positioned at the rear of the front wheels if you're looking for it, you can see where it touches the chassis/sump and causes the problem.
Hope this helps future searchers.

Right then, here goes:
Picture one shows the point where it was touching the chassis and making the noise, while picture 2 shows the position of the locating pins.
Hope they're clear enough to get some idea from.

My T4 has just been to the garage with what i suspect is the same problem. My mechanic had a good look around underneath and said that all he could see that maybe the problem was slightly excessive movement on one of the gearbox mounts which i had him change for me. To be fair it made a small improvement but its stil there. Hopefully i can go back to him with this new info and gey it fixed for good.

Many thanks

I have a 1.8 from 1999.
The front anti-roll bar is not visible under the car as on the pic.
I see one much higher (harder to see). Is this a phase 1-2 difference?

Dutch, then bar shown in the pics looks to be a lower subframe brace. (Please correct me if i'm wrong anyone).

The Anti role bar is routed across the top of the subframe through x2 bushes and attaches to the front Mac pherson strut via a drop link.

Please do not confuse these two items.

Ok,

So I don't have this lower subframe brace!
Haynes does not show it either...
Is it an option then?
