Fuel cost per mile.
The Hoe (B200E n/a estate) is costing me around 50 pence per mile using E5 petrol. That seems high to me. Is this normal for mainly short distance local driving?

Although not the same, I know, my 2l , 240, auto does about 18-20 mpg just knocking around town but that’s using E10 . It’s happy on E10 and designed for it.
I know there are arguments for using E5.

Probably best to let us know what MPG you are getting as the price of fuel varies so much all over the country and even from forecourts of the same brand in the same town. There are two texacos on one street here literally about 100ft apart and one of them is 1p cheaper than the other but in the evening at going home time the cheap ones prices go up about 4p!
Very low 20's to high teens mpg is expected from these cars if you're just doing short journeys, they love motorway miles and easily get mid 30's. I drove mine 150 miles to Goodwood, raced around track Saturday, auto solo Sunday, drove home Sunday evening and got something like 28mpg. Last edited by 360beast; Mar 14th, 2024 at 11:07. |

Do you keep a detailed spreadsheet. I could quote you figures over many miles and years correct to four decimal places if need be, anorak that I am! By any standards, yours seen excessive to say the least. Serious question - do you have a leak? It happened to me once when one of these quick service outfits incorrectly fitted a fuel filter when I was working away from home. Regards, John.

When my B200FT started returning under 20 mpg a new oxygen sensor restored acceptable economy. Not sure how the B200E set up compares. Another thing I'd look at is whether there is a faulty ECU temperature sensor which is causing the cold start injector to keep the engine running rich.

It should be around 29-35p per mile for very short trips.
