I use Tecsound 50 rather than MLV, when I spoke to the manufacturer they reckoned it was better than MLV but they would say that, the densities are similar. You can get a adhesive layered one which bonds extremely well so good for the sound deadening layer and then you can get non adhesive ones, one has a textured surface and the other has a aluminium foil face. I bonded 5mm closed cell foam to the tecsound and then fitted. Tecsound is better than pretty much all of the expensive car insulation brands, but a good bit cheaper. Post is expensive as it’s very heavy.

Cheers Burdekin & 142Guy!
Much appreciate you taking the time to share the insights & solid advice!! Yeah, so as in my previous post my main aim is: heat in “cabin” reduction If that comes with a few dBs dropping off, something of bonus - but not a great priority. Good point re exhaust wraps, I’ve a Simonz exhaust installed now as the original was understandably tired..so don’t want to encourage early failure, by trapping any moisture leading to corrosion. I must sort the below while I’m at it. - Heater system needs all the gaskets/rubbers replaced - grommets need replacing These two things will plug some gaps. But it’s the main firewall + trans tunnel surface area where I’m looking for a solid plan and a reliable outcome based on experiences/recommendations. Maybe even a layer of that 5mm core cell stuff Burdekin & 142Guy suggested, under the rubber flooring the car came with, with are in great knick. To that end, the feedback here has been tremendous! Huge thanks! Going to check out those links kindly shared, do some reading & figure out when/how much etc. Awesome help here as always, cheers! |

A couple of layers of the closed cell foam and can be glued down with the spray contact adhesives.
