I think I re-fitted the rev limiting rotor arm to my 1989 GLT. It only seems to rev to around 4,000 ish rpm. But it could be down to being an auto? I like it as is, because it's kinder to the automatic gearbox.

LOL, I have been known HJ to go a bit 'heavy on the relish' when blasting a bit of The Rubettes! Still not out - revved it yet

Juke Box Jive beats a Shang-a-lang any day & keep yer throttle clean

To clear up what rotor arms are what

Type one. Fixed rotor arm originaly fitted to B19/21/23 engines. Can also be used to replace the rev limiting rotor arm in B200/230 engines (but not F engines)
http://www.classicswede.co.uk/240_an..._10836454.aspx

Type two. Rev limiting type fitted to B200/230 engines (but not F engines). resticts maximum RPM of the engine. They are prone to problems with age. Not suitable for use with LPG
http://www.classicswede.co.uk/Rotor_..._13877045.aspx

Type three. Fixed postion but to fit the smaller stem of the B200F and B230F distributor

I am not a fan of the rev limiting rotor arm. Sticking throttles are not common on older cars unlike modern ETM's. Should the throttle stick open then simply switching the engine off will save it but valve bounce normally kicks in before the rods fly out.

Having the B200F I know now that the spindle size means I must have a non-rev-limiting rotor arm. Thanks classicswede.

If I had a B230 &c. I would look seriously at the specified rev limiting rotor arm and making sure it did not get old before replacement. After all how can I be sure that the engine would be switched off promptly enough if the throttle sticks in neutral? Me might be confuddled by a totality of circumstances competing for attention that are often the reality of driving. Thanks clan.

The self evident answer sounds a bit like, do not get a new rotor arm for a lesser engine. Buy a car with a B23.

Gone to raid my remaining savings to buy another car .... but the ashtray is empty so maybe not.
