Coolant sensor
Anyone know if the coolant sensor senses the actual level of fluid in the header tank or the actual percentage of water/anti freeze
Mine keeps coming up in messages but the level is OK I realise the sensor could be faulty just wondering what it actually reads/senses |

Level of fluid, there is a float in the sensor cap. Check the float is free to move.

Sounds like your coolant level is at the ADD/OK cusp.
The good news is that it's likely working just fine. |

There are a few items to check. Most common faults are the tank float, the sensor and wiring to sensor

Can you see how to remove the reservoir? No hoses need be disconnected.
As I recall it's just one securing bolt. A small tang on the reservoir's side just slides out of a slot. You can easily see the sensor's plug. The sensor is held in place by a rubber grommet. The rubber can dry out and the sensor can be loose. Inspection time is upon you. |
