Default Speed restriction to 115MpH

I am looking at V90s and saw the restriction to 180KM/H on V90s.
On what MY was this started? Can this be coded out again?

The speed restriction was introduced for MY21 I believe.

I very much doubt that it can be bypassed.

Could I ask why the speed restriction would be a problem?

I just think selling a car with 235 BHP and then curtailing the top speed to something below a - e.g. - Golf is nonsense. I can kill myself with less than 112MpH. I would not derestrict a car limited to 250 Km/H - 155 MpH - though.
Also I travel through Germany occasionally and covering distance at speed over there is still legal.

But when googling I may have found my answer that it can be done with a DICE and Vdash.

Personally I couldnt see myself ever travelling at over 100mph anymore. Those days are over.
However I do feel it is just another extension of the "nanny state" in that others have taken it upon themselves to decide just what is good for us and what is not.
They next stage?
Limit cars to 70mph?

Is it pill time already?
Ahh. Thank you.
I feel better now!

I'm not in the least concerned about you killing yourself! I'm VERY concerned about you killing me or one of mine.

No way on this earth would i pay for such a car with such a restriction, never ever, what about track days Imagine that, you've paid out all that money on such a powerful motor only to be overtaken on the 1st straight by my D5. I am afraid that whilst Volvo have good intentions, it's with lack of foresight, they will lose a lot of business doing this.....

Two ways of looking at this, one is that Volvo are attempting a marketing coup by saying " look at us, aren't we clever, protecting the world again"
The other way of looking at it is that speed limited cars are coming anyway so Volvo are just running ahead of the curve.

Either way it's yet another diminution of freedom, thin end of the wedge.

Don't Volvo claim something along the lines of 'You cant be killed in a Volvo'?

Don’t understand the fuss. Electric cars will have much lower top speeds unless like Porsche you give them two forward gears. It’s just preparing us for that. I think my Volvo has a top speed of 130 plus whereas my other car has a top speed of 180 plus. Both could be 115 as they are all the same in reality.

Japan has had a similar top speed limiter fitted to cars for a long time.
