Default An ETM question

Our car has been misbehaving. The revs would drop and the car would stall when coming to a halt. No ETS light or anything. Took it to the Volvo dealer who declared the car "undriveable!" after a test drive as it stalled when slowing down or even turning a corner slowly. The technician was sure that the diagnosis would show ETM codes but nothing! No codes at all! He roughly cleaned the ETM and the car is much better, doesn't stall at all now but they want it back to strip and clean the ETM and do a software update.

My question is to all you people who have had ETM failures or problems is does the light always come on? or is there always codes?

I used to get two or three RPM fluctuations before the ETS light would come on followed rather quickly by the check engine light, whats the age and mileage of the car? - Mike

2000 - W reg, 142000 miles.

Like I said, no matter how bad the RPM fluctations or the stalling the ETS light or engine light has never come on. The dealer says the lack of codes means that the module is working correctly with no faults but is in dire need of a clean.

had a few cars with similar symptoms, stalling when coming to idle with no codes stored, might not be related to your model year, but the latest etm and ecm software updates fixed the problem,Volvo foung a "bug" in the software.

there was technical report to all dealers on the vehicles involved.
