catalytic convertor needing replaced on my v40
Hi, My v40's catalytic convertor is needing replaced. Anyone know anything about replacing them as i've never done it before and know nothing about them. I got quoted 260 quid from quick fit but that seems way to much, does anyone know where you can get one for cheaper, i heard you can get a universal catalytic convertor for quite cheap.
Any suggestions/ideas would be great. russell |

RE: catalytic convertor needing replaced on my v40
£260 is very cheap for a cat - however, I wouldn't touch a kwik fit one with the barge pole - I had one on my old Rover and it was useless, dead in 9 months. They would only send it off for a warranty claim if I bought another one from them (Or I presume left my car there cat-less for the long time it would take). Bought a bosul one to replace it - really good quality and only marginally more expensive.
As for Volvo's, its about £500 for a V40T4 cat (may be cheaper for others), but its got to be worth it - you would have 3 cheapies in the same length of time. I got mine from Milltek, Ilkeston, was fortunate enough to get my car used as a 'development project' so was relatively cheap. It was what is called a hi-flow cat, and has made a significant improvement to performance. As is usually the rule - you get what you pay for |
