Default Volvo V50 ABS light

Hi

I have recently had my brake pads and discs done in the local garage on my 55 plate Volvo V50. The job was done fine however he was unable to reset the ABS light on the dash because his diagnostic machine wouldnt do it?

The garage says i would have to pay a further £25 to have an external garage reset the alarm?? does that sound right??

I am a little worried that they may have damaged the sensor but they have assured me there is no damage, it is standard to reset the ABS light on completion of a disc and pad change he said. He did say it might reset after driving it for a while. I am not one to be mugged off but does this story tally up? I will be taking it back because so far the light has not extinguished off the panel. I was tempted to call the AA (member) to see whether they would reset it?

I hope anyone could help me on this matter, much appreciated.

You could also try and disconnect the battery for 15 minutes - that usually reset things for free. Apart from that, me thinks the shop should have warned you up front that it's beyond their capability to do the job properly.

If you disconnect the battery make sure you have your stereo code (if required) as that will be lost.
