Does this part go by any other name, can't find any reference to it and my MOT mentioned it has slight play, is replacement the best fix and is it a diy job.

Hi,
A steering arm could also be a steering rod, a tie rod, or a track rod, they also call it a steering ball joint kit. in the pic 8+10 make up the steering arm in the red circle. ![]() If there's play then replacing is the only fix, it's not that expensive as a part, but you'll need to get a geometrical "toe-in toe-out" realignment of the front wheels after replacing one. Or he could have meant the control arm, which is a triangular shaped arm with a bushing at each angle. ![]() The bushings on these are a bit more expensive, and a bit more difficult to replace, and you may need a press, that's why this arm is more commonly sold as a whole unit, they go for around 100-150€.

He mentioned removing gator to access so must mean the rod? The ball joint is OK as I asked about changing it.
