XC60 delivery timescale (replacing my XC90)

My order pages is now showing 3 weeks till delivery... as been falling slowly since last update in January when delivery was initially expected.. end April was the date I was given then so fingers crossed it may happen to the revised schedule. Have resisted calling the dealer on basis they know nothing different.

I had one ordered as a company car last November (2023) with an expected delivery date of around May 2024 I think, so really around 6 months.

I had an update last month confirming the delivery date as 24 April, with a second update more recently with a final delivery date of 04 April (next Thursday!).

The spec I went for was a T8 Ultimate in Thunder Grey (black ventilated nappa with Linear Lime) . I was offered a Black version with the Sports Countour seats up front by the lease company but was happy to wait as I specifically wanted the comfier seats (and wooden dash).

Mine has arrived at the dealer. Hope to pick it up on Friday

For anyone trying to work out current timescales from order to delivery my experience so far looks like this:

22nd Sept 2023 T6 Recharge ordered with estimated 3-4 month delivery

2nd Feb 2024 Production Complete

2nd Mar 2024 Car left Shanghai on MV Gold Hoshi

8th April 2024 MV Gold Hoshi due into Bristol

No idea when the vehicle will arrive at the dealers

I managed to put the VIN I was given into this site to find which vessel my car had been loaded onto:

Volvo website now says ' expected delivery next week' Will await the email requesting payment of the balance before contacting dealer for their (hopeful) confirmation

Can I ask how this worked? My VIN I have got from the dealer is 17 digits and the website says it will accept a maximum of 15 digits for a VIN?

The car I ordered in Sep '23 was finally built yesterday (08 Apr) so it's taken exactly 7 months to get to this stage. Progress at last but the estimated delivery is 4 months from now which means Aug '24, nearly a year after ordering it. At time of order the delivery date was Dec '23.

Are you happy with those timescales? You must really want the car!
Wonder if the likes or BMW/Audi/Merc have similar lead times if they don't I'd happily go for one of them. The SPA cars are a bit out of date now and still suffer from AAOS failures all over the place plus folks are still (im)patiently waiting for features to come online with SW updates.
I can't understand what you're waiting for, perhaps I'm missing something not being deliberately obtuse.

Have you checked Volvo new stock?
Something might suit you there unless you are very specific on what your additionals were.
I was given a stupid delivery date on mine and luckily they had one just built that suited me and it only took 5 weeks from order.
