Default 12V socket in armrest not working, but rear tunnel one is?

Hi all,

The 12V socket in the armrest isn't working but the one in the rear is. According to the manual they come off the same fuse (#22 in the glovebox, 15A).

Before I go butchering the connector and potentially damaging the surrounding trim, has anybody else had this issue?

The car is under warranty, however if it's a loose connection on the back I'm happy to fix it myself. I'm just hoping it's not an entire console out job . . .

Yes - for me it was a fuse - I dropped a coin in there and there was a spark. That fuse number rings a bell, I think it cost me £2 if I remember.

Can't remember the exact situation with the fuses, but the front 12V socket stopped working for me, because I dropped some sort of detritus in it.

The socket in the back passenger compartment, I believe was still working, because I have a recollection of powering my electronics from there. It was a while ago, and there's a possibility it was from the USB in the centre armrest.

I fixed it with a new fuse.

Even if my memory is inaccurate, before you go "butchering" anything, I would try a new fuse, as a cheap and easy fix, although the fuse box position isn't great and I found the cover a little tricky.

Why risk invalidating the warranty?

I've had the same situation, just the front socket not working. Mine was the fuse as well.

It's up behind the glovebox and you need to be as flexible as a double-jointed gymnast and use a few sweary words to get to it.

Plug a usb charger in, I’ve got a low profile one and can slide the cover, not that I ever do I just want to chuck the house keys and spare change straight in! 😂
