Another average Torslanda, with cosmetic issues...
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/185529056933
...and I don't mean the paintwork: Those rear speakers have just wiped a few hundred off the amount I'd pay (which wouldn't be what the seller is asking).

Advised on 9 items:
  • Rear seat not fitted time of test
  • Offside front seat belt webbing slightly damaged or frayed (7.1.2 (b) (ii))
  • Battery insecure but not likely to fall from carrier (4.13 (a) (i))
  • Central stop lamp(s) non-obligatory stop lamp not working (4.3.1 (a) (ii))
  • Nearside front lower suspension arm ball joint dust cover severely deteriorated (5.3.4 (b) (i))
  • Offside front brake disc worn, pitted or scored, but not seriously weakened (1.1.14 (a) (ii))
  • Offside rear brake disc worn, pitted or scored, but not seriously weakened (1.1.14 (a) (ii))
  • Nearside rear tyre slightly damaged/cracking or perishing (5.2.3 (d) (ii))
  • Offside rear tyre slightly damaged/cracking or perishing (5.2.3 (d) (ii))

think the first item has been addressed.
Sat for 3 years, explains rusty disks and cracked tyres.

Mabey money asked if all above sorted properly, paint & seat sorted and rear load bay panels replaced, but those sills had better be perfect...

I'm dreaming, there isn't a torslanda in the country that hasn't been thrashed...

So true.

Volvo hit two completely differen demographics with the same car, and later users have followed similar divides:

244 Saloon - Geography professors initially then rally drivers & hot-rodders
245 Estate - Antique dealers initially then dog-walkers and building trades.

More or less Andrew, but rather more than that I was a cartographic surveyor by profession, I have a masters' degree in 'Geographic Information' and whilst working in the USA one of my jobs was occasional lecturing at a US intelligence agency college...

If the cap fits...

:-)

The seller says he has had the 38/38 carburettors professionally set up, and they would appear to have a proper manifold, so that will not have been a cheap modification (maybe a grand with labour costs for fitting and tuning). I doubt very much that was anything to do with emissions problems, that was an expensive performance enhancement that the seller went out of his/her way to fit.

The point was the same as I'd raised a few days ago about people wasting money on bling stuff when there are much more important (but more mundane: rust) issues to solve first.

I'll be surprised if this one makes much over £1,500, and I think it would still be a risk at that price.

People! :-)

PS. I suppose if it goes for £1,500 (and if the RB sells this week) I might buy it as the next project. The 2.3 litre motor I have would be good with that 38/38 carburettor set up. It won't qualify as an historic vehicle for another 5 years though, so perhaps not as I wouldn't enjoy paying another £1,500 in tax.
That 240 with the 38/38 Weber carburettors and lots of rust got to £2,051 but didn't make its reserve. I thought 2 grand was too much for the risk involved, but obviously the seller disagrees with me
