It might help to say what type of race car you are building. A gravel rally car will need a totally differnt set of parts compared to a Circuit car

It's for hill climb and circuit use HSCC spec , that's what mark has in mind when I have chatted with him so it's gonna be within those guidelines . Kind regards Robert.w

The hill climb side is going to be the limiting factor, but it is possible to build a car that will be good in both.
Stick to 40mm lowering, no IPD anti roll bars, good bushes (poly or nylon top wishbone), panhard rod is best rose jointed and strengthened crossmember. Engine dont go over wild with cam, 4-2-1 manifold rather than the 4-1 not fully sure what the limts of the regs are as to how far you can go engine wise. For the hill climb a low ratio axle would be a good idea but for the track your likely to better with a higher ratio diff. 2 axles might be a good idea. LSD can help on the hill climb but you can manage without. |

Thanks for your response. As you probably know rob is building the car for me. The key things are that the car needs to be road legal but I want it competitive on track sprints and potentially track racing. In no rush to get the engine up to maximum power but the aim is a super light amazon with maximum power utilising a b20 block.

Weight reduction is teh best way of going faster along with improving air flow. If you dont need it take it off

Hopefully with Rob working on the car we will be able to make it a quick car.

If all else fails i will come out of garyhood retirement and drive the car myself that's how I got my nickname and I was unbeaten round my parts even with BMW on my tail , if you know your car under you then pushing it beyond points becomes less scary, so I can be ya backup driver hehe but I will push it to breaking point be warned !
