Unhappy Engine swap - D4164T

Hi all,

Maybe someone can help, I have a Volvo c30 2008 1.6d (D4164T engine) For the second time in the last 1.5 years the engine has died again. I have already replaced crankshaft, turbo, glow plugs etc. And now came to my wits end with the car.

As the car is off the road, and I have time I am wondering if any other engines from volvo or other will fit straight into the car (with minor adjusting) has any one tried?

something Like the t5 or any other high powered engine (I would consider making a track day car for the summer)

any advice would be great.

Thanks

all

The T5 is a petrol engine. It would take considerable effort to fit that into your car.

It's going to be a mammoth exercise as you'd likely need to find a car with the exact same options then swap over all electrical components that are paired to the ECU (not just engine related). Most electrical modules are paired to the car so they'd all need swapped over. Your odometer will likely read from the donor car's ECU (so be incorrect) and elements including the stereo modules, window modules will need swapped over.

Ultimately, you're better off just sourcing another car frankly.

I agree. Very few problems reported on here with D3, D4 and D5 engines. (Also 2.4i and T5.)
