New XC70 Windscreen
Last week I had a large stone take a chunk out of my windscreen, so I had a new windscreen fitted today. Fitted by Auto Windscreens - all very quick and efficient. The fitter said over the past few years he had done dozens of Volvo windscreens on all types. He said that on very many there was no sealant along the top edge of the screen - there was none on mine at all (2010 XC70). He asked if the screen leaked or did I get serious condensation - I did notice a leak from the top of the screen when having the car washed before Christmas, but that is the only time - if there is a serious drop in temperature I noticed condensation forming when the car was just sitting on the drive. So if you have a leak from the top of your screen this could be the cause. The fitter said the stone did me a favour

That’s exacted what mines doing, I can’t feel movement in the screen but it’s drenched inside in winter.
The screens already got a crack right across it under the wipers, so it doesn’t affect the MOT. I think after reading your post I’ll get it replaced sooner rather than later. |
