Default FWD only 2005. AWD fault

I have a 2005 D5 XC90 with no AWD. I get the Anti-skid service required constantly. Had no idea what that meant until I tried to drive on wet grass!
It has no drive at all to the rear wheels, and by extension I assume the DTSC doesn’t function as it also appears to not have traction control.

Following the advice on many of these threads - I have tested whether the propshaft can be turned with the wheels on the ground and it cannot, so basically ruled out (the most common) mechanical issue. Had the fault codes read with a Snap-On Modis Ultra, and came up with this collection of codes:

0094 communication between control modules, communication problems with active on demand couplings.

0109 communication between control modules, communication problems with steering wheel angle sensor, internal fault.

1464 communication with the differential electronics module (dem)

0016 control module communication fault

Where do I start???

Suspect either a CEM failure, or a wiring and/or module fault which is disrupting CAN bus communications.

For that number of modules to all claim communications errors, it either has to be a "network" fault, or the module common to all in terms of function (i.e. the CEM) to have failed itself.

Personally, I think good next steps would be:
a) Check the CEM and its connectors for corrosion

b) Find a copy of the wiring diagram online (helps with understanding module location on the vehicle and how they are connected) and check all the connectors and wiring for obvious physical damage

c) If all else fails, get the error codes read by the Volvo VIDA/DICE tool which will be far more specific about which modules those codes come from, and which can show the overall health of the network.

Looks like I need the codes to be read by Volvo then.

Where is the CEM located??

Disconnect the DEM connector and then rescan and see what faults remain.

Sometimes the DEM (under the car, on the rear differential) gets corrosion in it that kills the CAN bus.

I have now. Thank you. I think i need a more in-depth read of the computer to see what it finds. Is there anyone local to Leicester / Northamptonshire area to plug me in?
