Default Oil in intercooler pipe.

Just after some advice as I’ve never worked on a turbo car before. Taking the over engine intercooler pipe off to change the ac compressor and there was a little bit of oil at the connection point behind the engine. Couldn’t find any more further down he line towards or at the intercooler connection.

Does it sound terrible or is that just how old turbos are?

At what point does it warrant further work?

It was a minor amount that I could find. Like a splatter or two.

Is that the plastic pipe that loops under the engine? Ours had a small amount of oil in but that was tens of thousands of miles ago and no further developments

The plastic pipe over the top of the engine, goes right past the oil cap. Thanks for the post though.

most turbo cars will have some degree of oil in there.

maybe try the pcv glove test?

idle the engine stick a vinyl glove over the oil filler, if it sucks it - all good.

if it inflates you may need to service your pcv system

(classic sign is oil use and oil on top of spark plug area)

Thanks for that. The glove test worked as it should. Slight sucking of the glove. Maybe I’ll put a new pcv set on in the future to be sure nothing is blocked.

That is quite Normal , It is oil fumes condesating out of the breather fumes which are drawn in through the vent system .
