Xenon Lamps
Just swapped out, what was probably the original D1S lamps as they were really, really dull.
I bought some Philips Xtreme Vision Gen2 lamps and have just replaced them both, however, they were taking a long time to warm up - probably at least 5 mins. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Is this a common problem with these upgraded lamps, and should i have gone for a more standard lamp? I do like the 'whiter' output of them and would really like to keep them. My worry is, if i need to jump in the car at night to head out, ill have to sit in the drive for a while waiting for the headlights to warm up, but i think i read somewhere that new xenon lamps can take a while to burn in from new? |

there is a reason volvo replacements are expensive .. they last 7 years, are the right colour and work properly ...

Can’t argue with that really! Must admit I haven’t tried them at night yet so will be going out later to see how they are. |

The bulb type determines what can be used so if you replace a d1s with a d1s they will work fine.
I had a similar experience, I will of had my current V70 for just over a year. When I first got it I was expecting great things as it had xenon lights. I had same car before but had the halogen option. I was left feeling underwhelmed with the light output ( car inbetween was matrix led Seat Leon ). Read into it summised the bulbs in the car must of been original? Car was 10 years old. So I ordered up some replacements. I replaced them with these https://www.powerbulbs.com/product/o...tense-d1s-twin Bulbs shoud take a couple of seconds to get up to temp / colour / correct light output. Been happy with my choice.

Thanks.
The CBI were a little too blue for me looking at comparisons, and when i took the car out with the XV Gen2, they almost had a little bit of a green hue, so i have opted for a pair of Nightbreaker Laser from Osram which might be a little more neutral. |

To be honest they have improved over the last couple of days, I guess being brand new they may take a couple of hours to properly get going, although I’m still not sure of the green hue to them. |

Large discharge lamps used in commercial lighting, especially those with very specific light colour (e.g. for marine fish) do have a "burn in" period (usually 100 hours) during which they can be prone to flickering and not quite give the light they should do - no idea why. I guess you could expect the smaller lamps used in cars to be the same.

Initial thought was whether these could be faulty, perhaps damaged during transport if you used Amazon. Also but possibly unlikely as these are still new to the market whether you have got counterfeit bulbs. Philips packaging will have a unique holographic seal which you can check to see if they are genuine
