However at 70k mine was pretty filthy.
I did an ATF change TF 80 SC 2009 on Thursday with 68000 miles that was a dark shade of red ...

It would be a good idea to get your oil changed now whilst it is still working well , it is usually too late if you get to a stage when a fault develops and you expect an oil change to fix it .
It is also important to ensure the gearbox has the latest software if it hasn't seen a dealer service for years ... It is updated free on Volvo services ...
Thanks. It is in for MOT within a month, so I might discuss it with them then.

It will have all the latest software as it only ever sees the main dealer - £250 for an interim service and then a year of free Volvo assistance takes some beating outside the dealer network, so have just stuck with the main dealer. Will see what they offer me on an autobox oil change.

That’s a great idea.

Another tip is to take a pippet and a clean cloth, remove a small amount of power steering fluid and see if you are happy with the black aerated foamy gunk that comes out with grit going through your steering rack seals.

A fitted rack will be over £2,000 a litre of power steering oil under £20.00

£250? they want £330 from me for same service in Marshall Volvo
As you wrote Volvo assistance is one of those thing that personally will sent me to Volvo to do my services in the future. Also they should give 1 year of free VoC subscription.

Mine is petrol of course, but generally it is 250 quid interim and 500 quid major service. After a bit of haggling.

I have never heard of VoC now being free with services, has this changed? I paid 60 quid for a 2 year subscription about this time last year.

I had a question about volvo assistance that go with servicing car with Volvo.
Here is the answer from transcription

[AGENT]
It will! once out of the first 3 years, everytime you service at a Volvo retailer we offer a complimentary 1 year extension to your Volvo assistance service. We have just introduced 1 year Volvo on Call subscription to this package also.

But i have contacted retailer to get closer look what is included i 3rd service. That what i have got.
The service would be carried out by our Volvo trained technicians and includes the following;

Brake pads, brake discs - Check
SRI - Set the service reminder indicator (SRI) to zero
Engine, transmission - Check for leaks
Air cleaner passenger compartment - Replace
Automatic transmission control - Check the park / neutral position (PNP) switch
Engine coolant - Check and adjust the antifreeze/corrosion protection strength
Engine oil, oil filter - Change oil and oil filter
External lighting - Check the function
Fluid levels - engine compartment – Check; washer fluid, coolant level
Horn - Check operation
Parking brake - Check
Seat belts - Check the function and for signs of wear
Washers and wipers for windshields and headlamps - Check the function and for signs of wear
Wheels and tyres: Check for damage, thread depth of tyres in mm
Reset tyre pressure monitor system
Tyres excl. spare wheel: Check and adjust the air pressure
Volvo Assistance (Breakdown) for 12 months from date of service.

There is nothing about one year of VOC subscription
I have sent email with question about VOC and this what i get back

There is a year’s Volvo assistance when you service your vehicle with a Volvo retailer but the subscription to Volvo On Call is chargeable .
Do not understand anything

Oui, a years free Volvo Assistance with every dealer service.

Its a large lart of the reason Ive stayed with the dealer for servicing. By the time ive paid a specialist for a service (not that there is a conveniently placed local specialist, but we'll ignore that) and then paid for separate RAC cover Ive actually spent more each year than going to the dealers.

Then, as aforementioned, it automatically gets software updates, service campaigns, etc, so it's a little cheaper overall for a more effecitve service.
