I've never seen them actually 'go on holiday' - I like the phrase - I thought it was more spotty Halfords 'technicians' leaving the clip off, however for a drill and a cable-tie, best follow your lead.

Sounds ever more sensible. Do that.

No idea where it went but can only think that I didn't quite fully secure it when I last fitted it and it wobbled off at some point. Or it bought a canoe and went off to Panama when I wasn't looking.

Thanks all, turns out it was the oil cooler top line. Temp fix is a jubilee clip tightened on over the old clip (£20 for a new part!). Thanks again for the input

I'm always amazed at how cheap (most) parts are. Twenty quid, twenty quid.... you'll spend more on the oil?! That's it, right there. Bangernomics bottled, you won't run cheaper.

9.50 euros from skandix for an oil line repair kit with 2 seals and clip. Or try local motor factor with the nissens part number 6842411 for the clip on its own.

And acshortt5 has it cheaper still? What's not to like? The only parts that come in dear are the rarer items, which if you're brutally honest, you don't usually need anyway.

But I don't think I'd be able to sleep at night without owning my genuine volvo carbon fibre spark plug cover that nobody ever sees except the MOT man once a year...

Skandix postage rates tend to be on the very high side unfortunately.
Probably take 3 months aswell now with the import chaos due to our unique situation..

My battery clips have always been tethered with a short length of nylon cord - original factory fitment.
