Default V70 1998 sunroof

Hi all,

For a while I have noticed wind noise coming from the sunroof opening.

For a few weeks the sunroof has been reluctant to close fully, and has now got to the point where it sometimes struggles to open or close, and a few times has stopped midway.

I have looked at Robert DIYs YouTube video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiDZqKKaMC8

I want to remove the sunroof glass so that I will be able to see what is sticking or broken.

For my 1998 I want to know how to remove the plastic trim pieces (at 5:15 in Robert's video) so I can get at the screws that hold the sunroof glass. Do I pry the trim towards the centre of the car and should it pop off, or should I slide the trim forwards or backwards to unhook it from its mounting pegs?

Thanks
Steve

yep, they slide off, ie when sitting in front passenger/driver seats, push them backwards towards rear of car direction. There are 3 lugs that sit on the back of the plastic trim - see pic

Study where and how it fits very carefully before you remove them. Although quite simple, they are getting brittle and can be awkward to do if you haven't done one before

Yes they slide back a bit then can be jiggled out (on my 1998 V70).

Will investigate further about the sunroof malfunction and post back.

Thanks
Steve
