Default V50 Door Lock

Apologies if this is a duplicate question ( I did search but couldn't find it ).....

I have a V50 2.0d 2008 (euro4)
Neither remote fobs have worked since I've had the car (never really bothered me) but both keys start it & both blades open driver's door.

This morning it was completely frozen, so went through the usual routine of pouring warm water down the door, and then heat the blade - insert - wiggle - remove & reheat - insert - wiggle etc etc.

It got to the point where it turned in the "locking" direction, but not the "unlock" way. WD made no difference. Left the car all day, came home & it still wont turn to unlock.

As far as I can see there's no keyhole in the passenger door or boot/hatch lid....( is that right??)

I've also tried sliding a bent coathanger down but it wont go passed the inner rubber.......am I missing something or trying in the wrong place??
clearly I'd be crap as a car thief

any advice would be great, as I can't stomach £25 each way in cab fares for long.
Many thanks

......I should point out that while this is me as a new user, I used to post on my ex's account, years back when we had an xc90 & an 850, but I'll be buggered if I can remember the login details.
Nice to see some of the old names still here, by the way.

I don't think there's a great deal of value in the coathanger. The car will be deadlocked shut. Not sure what your options are without working remote fobs and a broken door lock other than having a window smashed frankly.

Maybe either the local dealer or breakdown company might be able to help but I worry you're in the soup here. Sorry to not be of more positive help.

Is there. There definitely isn't one on the S40.

I actually dont think it will be, deadlock on our cars only work if you lock it with key fob (it activates deadlock and alarm) but if you do manual locking using key blade, it only does central locking just like you would press "lock" from inside of the car.
(atleast thats how it is on my 2005) so maybe its worth trying to reach anyway?

apart from that, no idea what to add, hope u get it sorted somehow :/

edit - maybe stupid question but have you checked the batteries on your fobs? maybe you can change the battery and it would start working. Im not sure if 2.0D was the model that was or wasnt loosing the codes after car battery replacement (T5 and D5 wasnt) but if shooting suggestions, hell why not?

Thanks for the replies....

Lizard -
Its not a stupid question - I checked contacts & changed fob batteries just after I got the car, thinking it would be an easy fix.......but I'd forgotten about sods law.
I read somewhere else that cleaning all the CEM unit & plug contacts may restore fob receiver function, but haven't got around to doing that yet
Not having working fobs has never really been an issue for me - you get into the habit of not having them after a while.

I'll try the coathanger thing again tomorrow - perhaps trying in daylight will make the difference.

No, CEM wont be an issue in the lost receiver case - its possible it needs to be reprogrammed in dealership. Some engines in our cars are very unhappy with disconnected battery for longer period of time and will loose remote fob function and/or immobiliser code aswell, im pretty sure 1.6D is like that, maybe 2.0 aswell. Cleaning CEM is good practice in general so worth doing anyway, but i wouldnt hold my breath for fobs to start working after that.

Default **Update - got the doors open !**

Update: I've finally managed to "break into" my car.
After several attempts, over several days, totting up to several hours, trying this and that - today after having a lightbulb moment, I managed to get in inside 5 minutes of trying.
.....so ****ed off at myself for not thinking of it sooner.

I won't say how I did it here, for security reasons, but I can confirm that the "bent coathanger" technique will not work.....Volvo's design of the doors, frames & door handles is too clever & secure ( Well done Volvo !!)

Thankyou Lizard for that info....
...my next job is to get the fobs recoded, as the manual door unlocking mechanism is fubar.
Do you know if a Volvo independent can do fob recoding, or is it main dealers only ??
