yes there are so many routes to get vida working and connected to the car. i found win7 pro ie explorer9 and at least 4gig ram . but even when working its not the easyest thing to use it takes time to master .i failed with vcx could not get it to do any thing i think my age and lack of computer skills did not help.

Default Update

Thanks all for the parts Identification...

Update: I shipped it off to a local Volvo specialist in Manchester - my VIDA cable didn't arrive in time for me to code read it and I thought I wasn't to go to replace the Box myself anyway if that was the issue... it's too cold to get pulling Engines out on the drive!

Diagnosis - Box is stuffed...

Errors all over it and the Valve Body thought to be the culprit... New (old) replacement Auto with 68k miles has been sourced and is currently being fitted...

Will report more as soon as I have news... DPF also up the swanny, still hopeful of a lovely motor in the end, so going to get it MOTd...

Meanwhile I've switched attention to sourcing a few spares, like a replacement Grill and Mirror indicator repeaters... Cheers for now.

ah that's a bugger, so much for the wishful thinking on the driveshaft then eh lol

you're right though it'll be a lovely car when done, definitely worth the effort.. just make it last an extra year or two and you qualify the extra cost eh

loads of spare bits all over ebay I'm sure that won't be a problem

Was looking forward to finding the fault, but known good used box is probably better.
Do you have an estimated cost for the removal and fitting?

My XC70's gearbox has recently started to play up, bit annoying at a mere 264k miles! Would be interested to find out how much the replacement box and fitting came to.

100% Stuart - I've ordered a grill, which I've sprayed Black and some indicator repeaters as one is bust... beyond that, I think it will be re-furbish the wheels and a new DPF...

Will update and again Thanks for the support...

Hi Rabbit - Boxes range from £250 to £1,000 - on various dismantlers - mine was sub £300 and fitting will be circa £500 so budget for £800 and you would do it...

before going down the new dpf route try a forced regen with vida. and check that all components that come into play are working . pressure sensor egr valve glow plugs ect if you experiance any problems the problem may be elsewhere and not the dpf its self. a new dpf will soon block if any thing stops the regen process. which garage in mcr are you useing?

Thanks Simmy,

Update or you and others... Picked up the Car yesterday, fully running and with 12 months MOT - so another P2 returns to the road after a 4 year break!

The DPF error cleared on its first real test run down the Motorway, post Gearbox change so that was/is a relief...

Went with a Cambelt and Water Pump change as service history showed it as overdue... so another £400 into it... that said Car drives well and has a few gremlins to sort, but Box is fine...

Issues still to resolve - So here's what is left to me now its back

1. Four C Error - Apparently it has one Four C Shock and one normal Shocker on the front!... meaning it's half active - anyone know if VIDA can delete 4C or any other workaround - perhaps with a second non Four C Shock - believe the active ones are circa £600?

2. Alarm Service - The battery box is duff apparently, again throwing an Error... not sure how where to get this from? Any ideas and where is it - is it under the front wheelarch?

3. Park Assist Error - Think one or more sensors duff as it's throwing an error on this too - I'll get it connected and see if VIDA shows me which one.. Think I read somewhere about cheap replacements - anyone point me?

4. Wheels, Disks and Tyres - Wheels all scuffed and need a refurb to make good, also couple of tyres come up on the Advisories, cracked again related to non use I think, plus all disks are pretty ropey so I will source and replace I think.

Beyond that I just switched out the Mirror repeaters - 10 minute improvement, plus fitted a replacement Grill (painted) as well as a sourced Parcel Cover and rear interior panels...

Can't figure the Parrot out either - Bluetooth - seems to mute Radio, but no sound and volume is up - again any ideas welcomed, its an old school CK3100 I think its called. Pics attached...

Overall hoping to press it into service now and see how it fares... oh and blower motor needs a whack to get it moving, again none use being the culprit so could be OK in time...
