Default Can anyone here recondition a T5 Engine?

I have just got a Volvo v70 2007 t5 and was wondering if it is worth getting the engine refurbished its done 200k and seems to run okay but I am wondering if it might be a good idea to renew it? Is there perhaps a volvo home mechanic/ specialist here who might take this on? And what sort of price would I be looking at?

Does it have any service history?
200k should be OK if it's been looked after and still runs nicely.
What's the rest of the car like?

The body work looks very good actually and the engine sounds okay interms of a laymans sound inspection, pulls well. Nothing worries me tbh I just wondered because of its miles if I might be best placed renewing the engine now rather then running it into the ground. I know these are supposed very reliable engines. So you think its best to leave it?

Ex police car I only have a few receipts for new clutch which was fitted one year ago costing £2000 and various other bits,, No service history as such but the MOT history seemed to suggest it was well maintained without constant worrying problems arising. At the moment there is a fuel leak a hose to the petrol tank is leaking but at this stage that is not a great worry. Hopefully it wont be to labour intensive to repair.

Try contacting the police force, they all have a fleet management department, which is normally staffed by non police officers. They may be willing to supply the service history.

If its running well, leave well alone. 200K miles is nothing if its been very well maintained (and it will have been if ex-police). The 5 cyl engines regularly go 300, 400 or even 500K miles if looked after (my c70 2.3 T5 had 415K on it and still ran sweetly).

Regards
John

no need for a refurb just make sure pcv is clear and not blocked as this can cause problems with oil seals
