It is the right car. I bought it off Ethan. He did lower it, but he's cut the springs. He told me that you did it, so that's nice of him. I'm thinking about getting lowering springs for it soonish. It's really low at the moment and doesn't go over speedbumps very well so hopefully I can lift it up by 20mm or so and it'll ride nicely.
I'm currently doing the same with the speedo. Driving with waze open. It'll be a shame for it to not have a working speedo/odo.
Power steering is the same. Just after starting it's difficult to turn right but will turn left. I'll get under it at some point and lube it up as you said.
Perhaps you could message me your number/email and we could have a more in depth talk about it? This thread has proved really useful. It's nice to have some history behind the car.
Cheers
Did he? Nope I sold it standard but was going to add lowering springs but never got around to it.

He bought it as he needed a car for the winter to drive around it as his Beetle was off the road. Odd why he sold it after a few weeks.

In terms of the speedo have a look at this link https://www.volvoclub.org.uk/faq/Ele...eterRepair.htm

On the U joint if you check the thread Laird mentions the fix for it. They are known for stiffening up due to lack of use.

Drop me a message on whatsapp 07979930616 and happy to share history and any photos I have of the car.
