Thumbs down Xc60 (MY2009 59 plate) headlights dim

Unable to drive my XC60 at night as headlight are very dim, unable to see beam pattern on road in front. High/main beam is good no issues. Car has projector headlights, how do I over come issue.
Thanks

If you have projector headlights then they're discharge lamps (assuming your car is not modified) - you will likely have "lux" spec car. The most likely cause is old lamps - change your bulbs - at end of life the light output can be as little as 20% that when new.

www.powerbulbs.com sell branded lamps and have a compatibility checker on their website.

The high beam will be okay as there is an additional halogen lamp for that - but the high beam will likely also be improved with new lamps.

Hi I have replace both HDI bulbs with new, £135:0!!! For the two. Expensive but has solved my problem. Headlights work as expected now and can read road well ahead.

I had to replace my HID bulbs just after I bought my V60, I got Osram Xenarc Nightbrakers,
it made a vast difference, I can see where I'm going now
